| The force of friction prevents you from going down a slide covered in carpet. Friction is a force that causes resistance between two objects moving against each other. You can easily move down a slide that is slick. But, carpet has rough fibers that cause resistance, or friction, when you try to move down. If you put on socks and rub your feet across carpet, you’ll feel the heat of friction. Rub your hands together, that’s friction! |
